5-TIME WORLD CHAMPION JORGE LORENZO TAKE THREE CROWNS IN THE PREMIER CLASS - IN 2010, 2012 AND 2015.
Jorge Lorenzo Guerrero, a former professional motorcycle racer from Spain, was born on May 4, 1987. With three MotoGP World Championships (2010, 2012, and 2015) and two 250cc World Championships (2006 and 2007), he is a five-time World Champion.
In 2008, following his victories in the 250cc World Championships in 2006 and 2007, Lorenzo joined the factory Yamaha squad in MotoGP. After placing fourth in the championship and winning at Portugal in his debut season, he was named Rookie of the Year. His nine seasons with Yamaha from 2008 to 2016 were incredibly successful; he finished as the championship runner-up in 2009, 2011, and 2013, and won the title three times in 2010 and 2012. Despite finishing just four points behind Marc Marquez in the final standings, his eight victories in the 2013 MotoGP season remain the most by any rider in the premier class in a single season without winning the championship.
In 2017, Jorge Lorenzo joined the Ducati factory team. While his colleague and old 250cc opponent Andrea Dovizioso fought for the championship until the final round in Valencia, he struggled in his maiden season with Ducati, finishing seventh in the championship. Lorenzo found his form again in the 2018 season, winning three races at Mugello, Catalunya, and Austria in addition to finishing second in Brno. In 2019, Lorenzo made the unfortunate decision to go to Repsol Honda, and he retired at the end of the season.
Jorge Lorenzo is ranked fifth all-time among premier-class race winners with 47 victories. The FIM recognized Lorenzo as an official Legend in the MotoGP Hall of Fame in 2022. Lorenzo is still involved in racing, participating in the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia with Q8 Hi Perform, even if he is no longer riding.
