French Grand Prix motorcycle racer Johann Zarco was born on July 16, 1990. He is most known for winning the Moto2 World Championship in 2015 and 2016, the latter of which set a record for points in the intermediate class. He presently races in MotoGP with LCR Honda Castrol and is a race winner.
Johann Zarco also competed in the 2011 125cc class (now converted to Moto3) and finished second and first in races. He took up the 2017 MotoGP Rookie and best independent rider awards after finishing sixth with a trio of podiums and two pole positions on the Monster Yamaha Tech3. Two Moto2 titles and 17 Grand Prix victories in all classes make Zarco one of the most successful French riders in Grand Prix racing history.
Johann Zarco, who was born in Cannes, rose through the motorcycle ranks and into the minimoto divisions in 2004, mostly competing in Italy. Zarco placed second in the Senior Mini European Championship in 2005 and second in the European Open Championship in 2006. In addition, he participated in the Italian 125cc championship, placing tenth overall. After competing in and winning three races in the Red Bull Rookies Cup in 2007, Zarco emerged victorious in Estoril. He won a fourth race in Valencia, the penultimate one.
